Whoever first thought to fry pickles was on to something genius.

Looks like we've got some Southern-food fans here at Fork in the Road! Many great guesses for this week's Where Am I Eating?, with several people identifying the dish as fried pickles. Indeed, these are the deep-fried bread-and-butter pickles from the newest outpost of BareBurger, located at 85 Second Avenue (212-510-8610). The cornmeal coating on these offers a great crunch, unlike at places that beer-batter-fry their pickles, which always results in a soggy mess. In fact, these might just rank as some of our favorite fried pickles north of the Mason-Dixon Line.
