Looking for a place to celebrate Fat Tuesday NoLa style? We've got a few suggestions:
Back Forty in the East Village is hosting a Fat Tuesday feast that will start with sazeracs and beignets; a three-course dinner with beer pairings by Sixpoint Brewery and a Pain Perdu dessert will follow. The dinner will run you $50, and seating is communal.
In the Flatiron, Gravy is putting on an extravagant prix-fixe dinner. Gumbo, grilled oysters, shrimp étouffé, fried chicken, and sour apple king cake are only some of the dishes on the $45 menu. Tonight, live jazz and soul music will accompany the dinner.
Zum Schneider is reveling in the Mardi Gras spirit with a costume party and cabaret show. Tickets are $22 at the door.
The Two Boots Mardi Gras Ball is being held tonight at 7 p.m. at Le Poisson Rouge. Expect a costume contest, raffle, live entertainment, and lots of dancing. Tickets are $20 in advance and $25 at the door, with all proceeds going to the Lower Eastside Girls Club.
Head to the Creole Restaurant & Supper Club in Harlem at 7 p.m. for live jazz and okra gumbo.
Throw down a Hurricane or a Dark and Stormy at Bourbon Street Bar & Grille near Times Square.
In Astoria, Sugar Freak is throwing a Fat Tuesday celebration with drink specials ($5 Hurricanes and $4 draft beers), a live DJ, and an all-you-can-eat Mardi Gras buffet.
