Jonathan Gold Leaving L.A. Weekly for L.A. Times

Pulitzer Prize-winning restaurant critic and prose stylist Jonathan Gold is apparently leaving our sister paper LA Weekly. The rumors began last Friday, when Gold was seen shaking hands in the lobby of the Los Angeles Times, as reported by LA Observed.
Then, very early this morning (1:58 a.m.), the same website published a piece claiming that, despite fevered negotiations with Village Voice Media executive editor Michael Lacey, Gold would be moving on.
Jonathan Gold worked for the L.A. Times in the '90s between stints at the Weekly, and spent two years in Gotham as New York critic for Gourmet magazine starting in 2000. Upon his return to Los Angeles, he assumed the critic role at LA Weekly, where his wife, Laurie Ochoa, had become editor in chief. He won the Pulitzer in 1997 [correction, 2007 -- sorry, folks!], for work done at LA Weekly. Fork in the Road wishes him the greatest success in his new job.
