At Aporkalypse Now, an all-you-can-eat pork fest taking place this Saturday at 404 (404 Tenth Avenue, 212-290-2665), 10 New York City chefs will each prepare a whole farm-raised hog in nose-to-tail fashion and serve the spoils to the guests. Among the featured chefs this year are Prime Meats' Antonio Mora, Gabriel Thompson of L'Artusi, and Philippe Roussel of Cafe D'Alsace. A sizable selection of craft beer, cask ales, and home-brews will be on hand for washing down massive amounts of pig. The festival is on Saturday from 1 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 10 p.m., and tickets are $60.
The Best Wings in Brooklyn Competition is happening this Saturday at Red Star in Greenpoint. Competitors will showcase their wings before a panel of judges to be in the running for the title of Best Wings in Brooklyn. The contest starts at 2 p.m., and there's no admission charge, which means free wings!
See who's crowned the King of Brisket at Santos' Party House on Monday, February 27. Ten or more local chefs will hand out samples of their brisket dishes to guests, who can cast votes for the people's choice prize. The grand prize is determined by a panel of judges, including Russ & Daughters' Mark Russ Federman. Tastings of artisanal spirits, craft beer, and free cocktails will also be up for grabs. The event runs from 6:30 to 10 p.m., and tickets cost $55.
