Eric Gabrynowicz Wins Food & Wine's "The People's Best New Chef" Contest in New York
In case you haven't heard the news: The winner of F&W's "The People's Best New Chef" contest is not from New York. Tim Byres, who works at Smoke in Dallas, beat out the national competition for his ability to go "beyond just barbecue, with an in-kitchen wood grill and smoke pit for smoking or curing almost every dish on the menu." The contest included regional winners, though, and Eric Gabrynowicz, a Danny Meyer protégé and chef at Restaurant North in Armonk, New York, took the prize for best new chef in the New York area. Who was he up against?
