Soon to be a Basque tapas bar

Tapas mania is taking over New York City. It has even infected Frank Falcinelli and Frank Castronovo of the Frankies Spuntino restaurants -- they're turning their Italian-themed Frankies 17, on the Lower East Side, into a Basque tapas bar, according to The New York Times.

The restaurant will be renamed Francesca and will feature pintxos -- Basque snacks served tapas-style -- along with wine from France, Spain, and Italy. Heading the kitchen will be Ryan Bartlow, the former chef de cuisine at Frankies 570, who spent two years cooking at the restaurant Akelarre in San Sebastián, Spain. Francesca will begin service on March 23.
