Jack's Wife Freda's Cantaloupe Juice
It's so close to summer that you can practically taste the corn and un-mealy tomatoes. All right, maybe it's not that close yet, but warm weather is right around the corner, and heat wave or not, comfortably cool Lafayette Street café Jack's Wife Freda has a beverage offering that's drool-worthy.

This is not the first time we've stumbled across cantaloupe juice, but it is the first time that we found out we had a taste for it. The orange juice is mixed with crushed ice, making this beverage pleasingly slushy. Served in a plastic cup with straw, it's perfect for sipping with your meal and then taking with you on your way out the door. Can't you just see this replacing the giant Starbucks cups shoppers tote along West Broadway? One can only hope.
