What to Do This Weekend: Smorgasburg, Dekalb Market
Howard Walfish Get to Smorgasburg early -- there's always a crowd.
Smorgasburg, the outdoor food fair in Williamsburg, will open for the season this Saturday from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. The usual suspects, like Asia Dog, McClure's, Porchetta, and Red Hook Lobster Pound, will be there along with 57 other food vendors.
And the best news: This year there will be booze. The Brooklyn Paper reports that the Smorgasburg organizers just won approval from Community Board 1's liquor-license committee to serve alcohol on the festival grounds. East River Waterfront (between North 6th and 7th streets), Brooklyn
Alternatively, head over to Downtown Brooklyn, where Dekalb Market -- a community space that will be open daily and host food vendors and various events, like concerts, roller derbies, and dance parties -- is having a launch party from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. with 40 retail and food stands, a beer and wine garden with local brews, live music, and an Easter egg hunt. 138 Willoughby Street, Brooklyn, 212-529-9262
