Categories: Events

This weekend, the Academy of American Poets is hosting a poetry slam and cocktail party at Back Forty in honor of National Poetry Month. Test the literary prowess of mixologists from bars like Clover Club, Ward III, and the Beagle, who will create cocktails inspired by their favorite poems. The host of the evening, the poet Bob Holman, will then recite each poem, with the corresponding cocktail in hand.

Cocktail recipes of some of the participants are already up at poets.org. The evening begins at 3:30 p.m. at Back Forty in the East Village and will last until about 5:30. Tickets are $70.89 and can be purchased online.
