Mediterranean Grill and Tapas on First Avenue officially opened with a Chinese-Ecuadorian chef. He told the Local he plans to serve "a little bit of everything for everybody, because the Lower East Side is American, Chinese, Polish, German--so there's a little bit of everything." Italian specialty foods market Agata & Valentina opened its second location in Union Square on Wednesday. The 25-seat café serves house-made Italian pastries, paninis, coffee, and tea in a setting reminiscent of an Italian cappuccino bar.

Tequileria Maya, a tequila bar and lounge from chef Richard Sandoval, opens on Wednesday, next door to the newly renovated Maya on the Upper East Side. It will feature 100 agave-based spirits, along with cocktails, a bottle-service program, and small plates from the Maya kitchen.
