This busy little bakery on the Upper East Side serves a lovely cheesecake by the slice: a super-light, almost airy filling in a dark and buttery crust. There are other sweets on sale -- all sorts of flashy, frosted cupcakes and cakes, huge cookies in jars -- but this simple cheesecake is so grand. Sit down and enjoy a slice on the spot, if you can, as the texture can disintegrate if it warms up too much.
