Crabapalooza. From Tuesday through Saturday, September 1, Back Forty will be hosting five consecutive days of crab boils at the restaurant, which will mark the end of its popular summer crab-boil season. From the website: "For $45, we dump a mountain of spiced crabs onto newspaper wrapped tables and serve it with other hand-eaten side dishes like stone ground cornbread, corn on the cob, boiled new potatoes, and string beans. You wash it all down with pitchers of beer. Then we come back around with hand towels for the cleanup and summer fruit cobblers for dessert."
Souper Tuesday at Amagansett Farmers Market. Every Tuesday in August, the Amagansett Farmers Market (AFM) has worked to cook up soups using ingredients from local farms owned or managed by the Peconic Land Trust. This coming Tuesday, August 28, marks the final Tuesday of the summer season. As they have done every week, Eli and the team at the AFM will be serving up fresh soup for $5 per bowl ($4 if you bring your own bowl!) from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. This week's featured farm is Quail Hill, with special guests from Amber Waves Farm, Balsam Farms, and Sunset Beach Farm.
