Newly added to the Tabata menu, Black Sesame Ramen is Dish #27 in our countdown.

Welcome to 100 Dishes to Eat Now, the tasty countdown leading up to our "Best of 2012" issue. Tune in every day (weekends, too!) for a new dish from the Fork in the Road team.

Don't confuse this dish with Black Miso Ramen! Black Sesame Ramen is thickened with something like black tahini, making an agreeable broth, not as thick as miso and less beany tasting. Nor is it to be confused with Black Garlic Ramen, being denser and darker tasting, without the tang of toasted garlic.

Black Sesame Ramen is a new addition to the broad roster of ramen broths available at Tabata Ramen, just behind the Port Authority, and numbered among our top 10 ramen spots in the city.

That, and slightly lower prices plus plenty of appetizer choices, make this one of the best ramen spots in town.
