Village Voice Wins 'Best Food Blog' Award!
The Association of Food Journalists, a network of professional food journos promoting high standards of food writing, editing, and restaurant criticism, announced the winners of its annual awards in Washington, D.C., yesterday. 
Our man Sietsema was there to accept Fork in the Road's big win: first place in the Best Food Blog category! We couldn't be more thrilled about the award.
If you're looking for some fun weekend reading, David Hagedorn's essay "Mothering Heights" won Best Food Essay; Katherine Shilcutt's post "A Tale of Two Dinners" won Best Internet Feature Story; and Beth Barrett's story "L.A. Farmers Markets Exposed" claimed the Best Newspaper Food News Story title. Lauren Shockey, former Fork in the Road-er, took home third place in Best Newspaper Food Feature for her excellent story published here last summer, "Tracking Down the Cityʼs Moonshiners." If you haven't read it, settle down with a drink and enjoy.

And for anyone still in D.C. for the conference, be sure to catch Robert's presentation this afternoon with Tom Sietsema, food critic at The Washington Post (and Robert's fifth cousin!). The duo will talk about how two boys from the Midwest became prominent East Coast critics, beginning at 3:45 p.m. in the Phillips Room.
