Monday, September 10
Free Cocktails. From 5 p.m. to 7 p.m., head over to Carmine's bar on the Upper West Side for complimentary samples of Absolut Harvest Punch, a autumn cocktail made with Absolut Orient Apple Vodka, Canton ginger liqueur, cranberry, lemon, and the herbaceous Plymouth Gin Rosemary Refresher.

Farm to Shaker. Starting September 10, mixologist Miguel Aranda will visit Barrio 47 every Monday to craft a new cocktail -- shaken or stirred to perfection -- with fresh ingredients from a local farm. The hours are from 5 p.m. to 2 a.m., $14 each. Some cocktails: strawberry and fennel (fennel-infused vodka, strawberries muddled with fresh fennel, lime, and cane sugar) and the lavender margarita (lavender-infused tequila, Combier liquor, fresh agave, lime, and orange)

DonQ Rum Tasting and Mixology Class From 6 p.m. to 10 p.m., Havana Central Times Square will be giving a class on the history of rum and how to make a variety of Caribbean-influenced cocktails. Participants will sample DonQ Cristal and DonQ Anejo followed by a hour DonQ Rum open bar with featured cocktails. Tickets can be purchased for $50 per person.

Thursday, September 13
Bear Republic Beer Dinner. Alobar is holding a five-course, five-beer dinner from 5:30 p.m. to 10 p.m. It's $50 per person, excluding tax and gratuity. The restaurant is devoted to American craft beer. Chef Ian Kapitan's menu will include: rabbit rillette patty melt, potted chicken-liver mousse, and sticky date toffee pudding.

Charity Wine Dinner. NYY Steak, will host the first annual NYY Steak, Raphael Winery, and WhyHunger Charity Wine Dinner. The event benefits WhyHunger, a group that strives to end hunger and poverty. Guests, including Yankee alumnus Ron Blomberg, will be treated to a masterfully prepared five-course meal. Tickets go for $225 per person.

Saturday, September 15
Bottomless Brunch. For the first time, Chef Richard Sandoval's flagship, Maya, will debut a new bottomless margarita brunch featuring modern Mexican brunch small plates and creative tequila-based morning cocktails. Beginning Saturday, September 15, brunch will be offered at Maya on Saturdays and Sundays from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. All bottomless brunch menu items are available à la carte.

Mexican Independence Day. Mexican Independence Day, the south-of-the-border version of the Fourth of July, falls on Sunday, September 16, but the Americano is starting the party early. On Saturday, the restaurant will host a celebration featuring mariachi music, a guest DJ at the bar and a specialty three-course menu. Executive chef Joseph Buenconsejo's Mexican-inspired three-course menu ($65, additional $35 with pairings) comes with two choices per course. Dishes include a rich mole with chicken and foie gras, a seafood salad with ancho chile, crème fraiche, and steamed grouper with zucchini and more. Dinner will be served from 6 p.m. to midnight, and there will be an after-party at the downstairs bar from 10 p.m. to 4 a.m. Reservations are limited.

@intoxicologist @forkintheroadVV <rant> Wish free tastings would become "discount" tastings, for ~$1-2/drink. Would curb so much assholery.

@cocktailspin @forkintheroadVV Actually I've seen that sort of behavior among the high paying as well. It isn't exclusive to free.

@intoxicologist @ForkintheRoadVV True, but under which condition is it more likely? This is why The Fed charges $1/plate in its cafes
