PostBourgie reports on a white woman living in New York who first began wearing an afro wig after a costume party and now blogs regularly about how putting on the wig is changing her life.

Michelle Joni covered her long blond hair with the oversize afro before heading to Shake & Bake, the NYCWFF's fried-chicken event last Thursday -- attendees were not asked to dress in costume.

She blogged about the evening in a post titled Fro'd Chicken and received a bit of attention when Questlove shared a picture of her via Instagram with the caption, "GRANNY?"

Joni has received some criticism via Twitter, but insists that what she's doing isn't offensive. That wearing the afro cannot be disrespectful to others as it's part of her process of self-discovery.

On her blog, Joni wants to "thank everyone who has left their feelings and opinions" then suggests that people who find her infuriating should join her for lunch to talk it out.
