Bread: New Breakfast and Brunch Spot in the West Village

Bread is a new brunchery just down the street from P.S. 3 in one of the oldest parts of the West Village. Out front, gleaming new delivery bikes suggest that this tiny spot is aiming to make money by bringing breakfast, lunch, and brunch to you. Inside, in a sort of white cavern, find four tables, which are likely to be hotly contested once the weekend rolls around.

Eggs, tartines, and croissants form the center of the breakfast menu on weekdays, from which Dish #10 (baked eggs with sage sausage and roasted fennel) comes. Three organic eggs with crisp edges mire some nice miniature sausage and a mild cooked julienne of the anise-like vegetable. It makes a nice breakfast, and the coffee is good, too. The only question you'll be left asking is, "Why no bread with the breakfast, given the name of the place?"
