Live to tell.
Like all great holidays, Halloween is really just another excuse to spend time drinking with those you love (or those you love for the night). In honor of the festivities, Jacques 1534 Bar in Nolita has created a Cautionary Toast, a cocktail that speaks directly to the evening's sense of wanton adventure. Made with cachaça, gin, bitters, and sparkling wine, the drink's name sounds like an apt warning.

The Drink: A Cautionary Toast

The Bar: Jacques 1534 Bar

The Price: $13

The Ingredients: 1 ounce Cabana Cachaça, 1⁄2 ounce Hendrick's gin, 1⁄2 ounce fresh lemon juice, 1⁄2 ounce simple syrup, 3 ounces Carnaval Sparkling Wine, 1 dash Angostura bitters

The Process: Combine the cachaça, gin, lemon, and syrup in a shaker with ice. Shake well and strain into a flute. Top with sparkling wine and float the bitters on top.
