What's Happening This Week: Post-Hurricane Sandy Events
Many of the week's food festivities have been canceled, but the show will go on for these celebrations.
Wednesday, October 31
Sound and Cinema at Nitehawk Cinema: Nitehawk Cinema will screen Nosferatu, the 1922 black-and-white silent horror flick. Sip creepy cocktails like "There Will be Blood" and upgrade milk duds to spiced pumpkin popcorn. Don't forget a costume.
Free Tacos at Tacombi: One of the taqueria's owners tweeted today, "Tacombi is currently giving away free tacos this evening to the folks in Nolita. Will keep serving them until we run out." Grab 'em while you can!
Halloween Party at The Americano: Celebrate Halloween with a Hollywood-themed party at this hotel bar. A three-course prix fixe dinner is $65 and starts at 6 p.m. Or just join the after party starting at 10:30 p.m.
Thursday, November 1
Gran Electrica's Day of the Dead Party: Celebrate Day of the Dead with DUMBO restaurant Gran Electrica. They're serving a Mexican menu with tamales, mole poblanos, and tequila cocktail specials. The party runs from 6 p.m. to midnight, but at 9 p.m. the live music and make-up stations start.
Sunday, November 4
Lower East Side Pickle Day: Sandy pushed back pickle lovers' favorite day and the pickle party is rescheduled for Sunday. Enjoy pickles from more than 30 vendors including AsiaDog, Rick's Picks, and McClure's from noon to 5 p.m. on Orchard Street from East Houston to Delancey Streets.
