Where to Celebrate Bittersweet Chocolate and Almond Day

Today is National Bittersweet Chocolate and Almonds Day, because why wouldn't such a glorious marriage between sweet and salty have an entire day dedicated to it?

As the irony gods have it, it's also National Stress Awareness Day (seriously). Someone out there really just wants you to take all your stress, dump some almonds on it, douse it in bittersweet chocolate, and eat it right up.

Celebrating by visiting one of these downtown chocolate shops.

Black Hound Bakery: Get fancy and try the busy bee cake -- three layers of chocolate butter cake, two layers of almond butter cake, two layers of bittersweet chocolate mousse, and one layer of marzipan. Plus marzipan and almonds on top. 170 2nd Ave.

Tribeca Treats: For $16, you can try the chocolate bar sampler, including a caramel smoked almond chocolate bar. 94 Reade St.
