Randazzo's Clam Bar in Sheepshead Bay is still closed for Sandy renovations.

Some restaurants in Sandy-stricken areas like Lower Manhattan and Red Hook have been able to get back on their feet in the wake of Hurricane Sandy. But in Coney Island, the beloved Totonno's pizza and Boardwalk staple Cha Cha's are among the neighborhood spots that remain closed.

At Cha Cha's, owner John "Cha Cha" Ciarcia cited lack of grants and insurance reimbursements as a reason for the delayed opening. He's had to pay out of pocket for most of the repairs. Ciarcia told Brooklyn Paper that the city is only offering loans, but most small business owners are looking for grants similar to those issued after 9/11.

Randazzo's Clam Bar's doors are still shut in Sheepshead Bay. Owner Paul Randazzo said they're in the process of rebuilding: "It's slow but we're going." When asked when he thinks they might reopen, he said, "For the holidays, we hope." For the sake of their clam chowder, we hope so too.

Footprints Cafe, the Caribbean restaurant on Surf Ave., remains closed. A representative said that they hope to open in the next two weeks, but they have no set date yet.

Totonno's could not be reached but their answering machine said, "We hope to see you after Christmas," but the comment below from their Facebook page suggests otherwise.

Hi Guys...was hoping to reopen week after Christmas....but that's not looking so possible as of today...workers are overwhelmed and scheduling is all screwed up....so we wait...and know that our loyal customers will wait with us....wishing you all a blessed holiday season....Antoinette...(Cookie's sister)...that's my new name!
