Chefs Support Easy Bake Ovens for Boys

Categories: Clip of the Day

Middle schooler McKenna Pope made headlines when she confronted Hasbro and asked for an Easy Bake Oven that wasn't just marketed to girls. Her 4-year-old brother Gavyn wanted one for Christmas, but was concerned it was just too pink.

In this video, name-brand chefs rallied to support McKenna and Gavyn's request for a boy-friendly Easy Bake Oven. "I can understand not wanting to cook in a pink oven," said Joshua Whigham from The Bazaar by Jose Andres. He recommends a steel or black one. Oh, and don't forget to ask for a sauté pan!

Spencer Rubin from the Melt Stop admits he had an Easy Bake Oven as a kid -- "I loved it to death!" -- but supports the kids in their endeavor to equalize cooking toys.
