Bellwether Closes in Williamsburg, 9th Street Bakery in the East Village

Williamsburg's Bellwether has closed and co-owner Josh Cohen, also behind Greenpoint's Anella and Calyer, is moving on from the project. Matt Zala told the Local that once they find a new partner, they hope to get the restaurant back up and running. 594 Union Ave.

After 87 years of business in the East Village, 9th Street Bakery is closing. EV Grieve reported the landlord is doubling the rent, and after a slow summer, the brunt is too much to bear. 350 E. 9th St.

After Sandy, the Financial District's mega food court Earl's Court never really said when they would come back to life. But now it's been reported they won't. According to Midtown Lunch, "For Rent" signs are now in the windows. The place on John Street used to house Billy's Bakery, Earl of Sandwich, and the Original Soup Man.
