Yesteday around 11 a.m., the Burger King Twitter account was apparently hacked. Reports Yahoo!News, the Burger King logo was swapped for a McDonald's logo, and a string of sometimes-obscene messages issued forth.

Burger King is not usually a frequent tweeter, using the social medium mainly to advertise specials on its menu. The hacker announced his presence by tweeting on the Burger King account: "Look for McDonalds in a hood near you @DFNCTSC."

The stream of tweets from the hacker continued for approximately 75 minutes, at one point linking to a video by rapper Chief Keef, according to the Chicago Tribune, which went on to note that it took over an hour for Burger King to request Twitter to shut the account down.

Another of the bogus tweets featured what was apparently a Burger King employee in the bathroom shooting up with a syringe, with the text: "We caught one of our employees in the bathroom doing this ..."

The account was returned to regular functionality at 12:15 p.m.

The password on the Burger King account had apparently been "Whopper123" -- not the securest of passwords. Burger King has approximately 80,000 followers.
