Leske's Bakery Opens in Park Slope, Pennsylvania 6 Opens in Herald Square
Leske's Bakery will open a second location in Brooklyn on Tuesday at 10:30 a.m. The Bay Ridge-based bakery has been around for over 100 years and is known for its Scandinavian heritage and black-and-white cookies. Join in the sweet festivities by showing up bright and early for a celebratory cookie breaking. Leske's will hand out complimentary red and black cookies (yes, you're supposed to break them!), free coffee, tea, and hot chocolate. Regular hours (5 a.m. to 8 p.m.) start on Wednesday. Pennsylvania 6, Herald Square's newest raw bar and seafood spot, will open on Wednesday under executive chef Humberto Leon. The menu includes fried Ipswich clams, monkfish osso buco, and on-land options like spicy sausage flatbread and beer-braised short ribs. Sports nuts can watch the game on a giant projection screen and booze hounds can enjoy an expansive cocktail list that includes champagne drinks with fresh fruit, daiquiris, and Manhattans (made with Grand Marnier). 132 W. 31st St.
The Dead Rabbit Grocery and Grog opened on Friday in the Financial District. Irish mixologist Sean Muldoon created a Gangs of New York theme at the old-timey bar. The first floor honors whiskey and beer while the second floor has a cocktail bar with a menu as big as a book. The bar promises 72 "historically accurate" drink options. A small food menu features Irish-British traditional fare like homemade pâtés. If you find yourself in the downstairs Taproom between 4 and 5 p.m. during the week, you'll get a free snack with every liquor purchase. 30 Water St.
