Starbucks Supports Marriage Equality (And Tells Those Who Don't to Sell Its Stock)

Its brew might be bitter, but its politics are all love: Starbucks tells its shareholders that if they don't support marriage equality, they can sell its stock. The mammoth coffee company's CEO, Howard Schultz, announced at a shareholders meeting this week that anyone who didn't agree with Starbucks' position was free to caffeinate elsewhere, Think Progress reports. The brand suffered lagging returns in the last quarter -- which some stockholders suggested was due to the National Organization for Marriage's campaign to "Dump Starbucks." Schultz, however, fired back, saying "not every decision is an economic decision." [TP]
