One Diner Breakfast, Five Ways

4. Bus Stop Cafe -- A friend recommended this place because the sausages used taste a lot like English bangers, and indeed they do; eggs done OK, toast arrives buttered, potatoes in a novel cube shape and nicely done, except there's green bell pepper in addition to onions -- grrrrr!

5. Village Den -- The eggs have real character, the sausages juicy but a little runty, potatoes way better than average, and free fresh-squeezed juice comes alongside, but the undressed baby lettuces are an annoyance.

We must say, NJ really is the tops for diners.

I've noticed that the cooking at Washington Square Diner hasn't been as good since its reopened.  Bonboniere has never been better though, and is still a real gem.

Definitely bookmarking this article because I've never been to any of the restaurants listed. I love diners. I like Cafe 82 on the Upper West Side and Tom's Restaurant in Morningside Heights. But my absolute favorite is actually in New Jersey so if you ever find yourself in Hazlet, NJ, don't hesitate to check out Red Oak Diner & Lounge!
