Biblio Brings Book-Themed Eats to Williamsburg

With the amount of used books sold on Bedford Avenue, it was only a matter a time before a visionary restaurateur picked up on the neighborhood's fascination with reading. This pre-smartphone activity, still popular in an assortment of cafes in the area, is the theme at the newly opened Biblio, located at 149 North Sixth Street, where you're welcome to take a picture of your food, but you're probably better off bringing a pen and pad.

The menu, broken down into thematically appropriate categories including "foreword," "preface," and "appendix," features an assortment of items including chicken liver mousse on grilled country bread, duck confit and friseƩ chardonnay jelly, and an offering by the Hemingway of hamburgers, Pat LaFrieda.

The dark, wood paneled interior also serves as a well-stocked drinker's haven, the likes of which would make James Joyce and Edgar Allan Poe regular patrons. Extensive craft beer offerings, including Schneider Aventinus and Ommegang Gnomegang, can help cut through even the most serious of writer's blocks--and help serious grammarians stay on top of their spelling acumen.

Currently open for dinner service, Biblio plans to expand its hours during the upcoming weeks with outdoor garden seating to follow.
