Oysters, Bushwick Restaurant Week, Comedy for Hunger: What To Do This Week
Bushwick Restaurant Week, Multiple Locations, June 17-22
If liquor license applications are any indication, Bushwick is about to witness an explosion in the number of restaurants in the area. See where the neighborhood is at now via the inaugural Bushwick Restaurant Week, when dozens of the 'hood's eateries will offer specials. Participating spots include Falansai, The Narrows, and Pine Box Rock Shop; check out the event's official website for a complete list. Uber is also offering free rides (up to $30) to Bushwick restaurants. Secure yours by entering the promotion code BUSHWICK in the Uber app.
Brine and Vine, City Winery, Tuesday, 7 p.m.
Red, white, and dark blue (mollusks) reign supreme as Brooklyn Oyster Party teams up with City Winery to offer a new series in proper oyster pairing etiquette (rule no. 1: slurp the oyster, not the wine). Each guest will enjoy unlimited pours from a hand-picked selection of wines to accompany a dozen oysters. Tickets are $85.
Going hungry is no laughing matter, but laughter will help raise awareness for a great cause this Thursday. Join comedians Todd Barry and Wyatt Cenac as they welcome guests with a night of jokes and humorous stories that will give your belly a workout. Advance tickets are $15; all proceeds will go to support the Craig Murphey Fellowship Fund at New York City Coalition Against Hunger, an organization that advocates on behalf of this city's food pantries, soup kitchens, and residents that can't afford enough food.
