So you're back from spending the first official weekend of summer in the Hamptons/Rockaways/Jersey Shore, and you're trying to cope with your awkward sunburn. Here's a look at some fun food events this week to help soothe your skin -- or at least settle your stomach:

Taste of LIC, Tuesday, 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.

The Long Island City waterfront is one of the best spots to take in the Manhattan skyline with a camera in your hand. This week, trade in your Kodak for a bite from any one of the 50 participants in the eighth annual Taste of Long Island City, including M. Wells Dinette and Alewife Queens. The event, which takes place at Gantry Plaza State Park, begins for VIPs at 5:30 p.m. with a cocktail reception and features a performance by artist Champagne Jerry. Admission, available at the door, starts at $60 (though that ticket nets you entrance at 6:30). Proceeds benefit The Chocolate Factory Theater.Gantry Plaza State Park, 49th Avenue and Center Boulevard, Queens.

Eat The City High Line Meat Tour with Robin Shulman, Wednesday, 6:30 to 7:30 p.m.

With barbecue season upon us, it's important to know where the meat you're grilling comes from. Eat The City author Robin Shulman leads a walking tour that covers the history of food production in New York as well as the significance of the Meatpacking District as an iconic neighborhood in food history. Once the tour is complete -- and you've worked up an appetite -- you'll have the chance to purchase offerings from High Line vendors like Delaney's Barbecue SmokeLine and L'Arte del Gelato. Tickets range from $10 to $15. The High Line.

Summer of Cans Kick-Off Party, Wednesday, 5 to 10 p.m.

Alphabet City bar Idle Hands kicks off its second summer of swapping out its craft beer bottle list for a craft beer can list with a party this Wednesday night. Buy a ticket in advance, and you'll drink as much canned ale and lager as you want for $20; the same perk costs $25 at the door. If getting hammered mid-week isn't in the cards, opt to purchase your cans individually for $4 each. 25 Avenue B, Downstairs.
