Drink Cheaply at Jalopy Tavern, Havana Central, and Shoolbred's
Just two days and change until another summer weekend, so it's time to celebrate with a cheap drink. Here are three spots where you can accomplish just that.
Shoolbred's Shoolbred's offers customers a good excuse to get out of the sun
Jalopy Tavern, 317 Columbia Street, Brooklyn
From 4 to 8 p.m., receive $1 off any drink (excluding beer/shot combos) at this Brooklyn Heights bar, located next door to the Jalopy Theater. With a selection of $2 Rolling Rocks and $3 Yuenglings (before happy-hour pricing), customers might have enough liquid courage to join a fiddle class next door--or at least attempt to catch a live performance.
Havana Central, 151 West 46th Street
In midtown and need to cool down in your suit? This Cuban restaurant offers a $7 Grand Marnier margarita on Wednesday at its Times Square location. From 4 to 7 p.m., you'll also find $6 mojitos and margaritas, $7 sangria, $4 beers, and $5 glasses of house wine. If you avoid Times Square at all cost, the Upper West Side outpost runs its own specials from 3 to 7 p.m.
Shoolbred's, 197 Second Avenue
Sometimes seeing double can be a good thing. Two-for-one beer and well drinks available until 8 p.m. in a one-of-a-kind space make Shoolbred's a worthy stop when you're trekking through the East Village. Patrons can take advantage of the European-heavy beer selection, including Scotland's Belhaven Twisted Thistle IPA, along with seasonal cocktails like the Pimm's Cup. Groups can grab tables under the awning or pull up a chair inside and gaze at the pictures of old men with mustaches that decorate the wall.
