Meet kale: It may have become a Brooklyn cliche, but it's also irresistibly pretty and healthy to eat.

These ground cherry bushes are beginning to fruit but have a ways to go.

And baby chard is growing well in heat-cracked soil. That grainy mulch you see comprises coco hulls from Mast Brothers Chocolate. It smells amazing!

...And later, these Feherozon peppers will ripen to a streaky orange-red and their flavor will deepen and get really sweet.
