August has arrived, which means you should be attempting fill up on as much fun as you can take before Labor Day deals a crippling blow to summer. Here are a few things to nibble on this weekend.

2013 Rural Route Film Festival, Museum of the Moving Image, 36-01 35th Avenue, Queens, Friday through Sunday, 7 p.m. on Friday, 1 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday

The Museum of the Moving Image will show a variety of films throughout the weekend; on Saturday and Sunday, it will also open its courtyard to offer a selection of Southern fare you can enjoy while you view. The closing party happens Sunday night at Brooklyn Grange--a rooftop oasis you can read more about in Hannah Palmer Egan's story--which will feature additional screenings. Tickets for the films are available on a first-come, first-served basis, and only members may reserve in advance by calling the museum at 718-777-6800. Tickets for Sunday's party are sold separately.

Cheers to Brooklyn Whiskey, Green-Wood Cemetery, 500 25th Street, Brooklyn, Saturday, 4 p.m.

Curious about the evolution of distilling in our city? Join this two-part tour, where you'll learn about Brooklyn distilleries of the 19th century while you tour the Green-Wood Cemetery, and then hop on the trolley and head to Kings County Distillery at the Brooklyn Navy Yard to see how whiskey is made today. Samples are included in the cost of the tour; tickets are $30 for members of the Green-Wood Historic Fund and $35 for non-members.

Sunday Brunch featuring Mary Alouette and the Bailsmen, Hotel Chantelle, 92 Ludlow Street, 12 p.m.

Jazz. Rooftop. Truffle grilled cheese. Add in a 92-cent cocktail brunch exclusive, and your lazy Sunday is set. And if you know how to pace yourself, stick around and reserve a spot for the afternoon lobster bake. Featuring reggae music along with $25 buckets of Red Stripe and various drink specials, this sounds like a prime opportunity to grab the girls and guys for a get-together.
