Weeknight performances and a "super" happy hour menu make Tomi Jazz a great post-work destination
If you're shellshocked about having to put away the white shoes, a cheap drink is probably necessary. Here are a few places that'll keep some green in your pocket no matter what fashion statement you're making:

This N' That, 108 North Sixth Street, Brooklyn

From 4 until 9 p.m., this gay bar offers a variety of specials that attract much more than the cheap hipster looking for a $2 Bud Lite (though that's also available); $4 well drinks, $3 Stellas on tap, and $7 martinis are a few of the happy hour specials patrons can take advantage of before settling down for a show. Performances often feature DJ's and drag queens, and special events include Saturday's fashion week party, featuring a live fashion show along with unique drink specials you'll want to take advantage of during a catwalk break.

Tomi Jazz, 239 East 53rd Street

With live jazz on weeknights, this relaxed setting offers a change of pace from the typical rowdy Midtown East happy hour. From 5:30 to 7:30 p.m., cocktails are half-priced, and a special "super" happy hour menu is available for those in need of a quick post-work day bite like vinegar marinated jellyfish or rice balls. From Monday to Wednesday, there's no cover charge; tonight features the Rika Ikeda Group, for which you'll need to cough up a $5 food/drink minimum.

El Rio Grande, 160 East 38th Street

This lively happy hour scene keeps the summer spirit alive between noon and 7 p.m. with $5 sangria and $7 margarita specials. Draft beer is $4, and food specials on dishes like taquitos and bacon-wrapped shrimp feed the masses. While the crowd is geared toward the singles scene, those on a date might want to go all-in on a premium margarita for $14--they're prepared tableside and will leave you feeling a bit giddier than some standard guacamole presentation.
