When it rains, it pours, so get ready for another booze-soaked NYC weekend that's gonna spill right into your work week. In fact, have that doctor's note ready in the event of over-enthusiastic participation. If you thought your glasses were full with the NYC Wine and Food Festival in town, prepare to double down, as Cider Week too, hath cometh.

Running from October 18 through 27, celebrate the revival of crisp, refreshing fermented apple juice. New York is blessed with bountiful fruit, and the list of orchard-based regional cider producers keeps growing. The founders of Cider Week hope you'll come to appreciate--and subsequently demand--more hard cider, helping keep local orchards in business while preserving heirloom varieties. We think we can oblige.

Cider Week features tastings, classes, specialty cocktails, and paired dinners--peruse the lengthy list of venues supporting the cause this year at www.ciderweekny.com

But from that slew of exciting opportunities to taste cider, here are a few of our top picks for events:

The Intoxicating Apple: An Evening with Rowan Jacobsen at the Wythe Hotel, Friday, October 18, $40
James Beard award-winning author Rowan Jacobsen tells apple stories over a four-course cider and cheese pairing.

Harvest Beer & Cider Sessions at Jimmy's 43, Saturday, October 19, $50

Cider Week Farm Feast at ICI, Tuesday, October 22, $48
Enjoy a four-course feast paired to local ciders while you chat up cider makers Eleanor Leger from Eden Ice and Louisa Spencer from Farnum Hill.

Smorgasburg Cider Takeover, Saturday, October 26
Just what it sounds like--cider makers come to Smorgasburg. Check out the goods from Farnum Hill, Naked Flock, Doc's Draft, and Eve's Cidery while you stroll the usual mix of eats.

Applepalooza at Astor Center, Sunday, October 27, $45
