Forget wine and cheese parties, fall wouldn't be complete without cider week, which runs till October 27th
While food nerds everywhere salivate over another edition of Food Network's New York City Wine & Food Festival, there are plenty of activities to participate in if celebrity chef appearances aren't your scene. Like one of these under-the-radar events:

An Autumn Night at Greenmarket, Union Square Greenmarket, East 17th Street at Broadway, Friday, 4 p.m.

If getting a chance to purchase fresh produce during the afternoon isn't a possibility, strolling through Union Square this Friday night will help you prep for any upcoming weekend dinner parties. Featuring dishes from nearby restaurants like Tocqueville, the night market will feature live music from the Jazz Foundation of America. The event is free to attend, with local food, beer, and cider prominently on display.

Cider Week, multiple locations, Friday through October 27

Fall wouldn't be complete without plenty of cider drinking. Luckily, a large majority of New York restaurants, pubs, and shops agree and are celebrating the return of Cider Week with a variety of educational tastings. Weekend events include an apple and cider festival Saturday morning at Grand Army Plaza and a cider fest party on Sunday hosted by Roberta's. Additionally, all Tour De France restaurants will be offering an exclusive Wet Hopped Cider in collaboration with Doc's Cider, with a rotating daily flight selection also available.

El Ñosh Pop Up, Malt N' Mash, 53-61 Gansevoort Street, Friday through Sunday

The crazy trend of combining cuisines you don't think should go together continues, this time with the focus on Latin-Jewish fusion. The pop-up dining experience, which will end on Sunday, features the work of chefs Eric Greenspan and Roberto Treviño. The menu is full of items you probably can't find anywhere else, such as pastrami and dill pickle croquetas or poppy and sesame seed-crusted churros for dessert. Reservations for Friday or Saturday night dinner as well as Sunday brunch can be made via the website.

Danish Red Sausage Party, Aamanns-Copenhagen, 13 Laight Street, Sunday, 2 p.m.

Fans of Danish street food are welcome to attend this complimentary event, which will feature the iconic red hot dog with traditional toppings like crispy fried onions for purchase. The one-day-only event, hosted by Danish pop-up restaurant Revolving Dansk, will also feature drink specials and Scandinavian rock music for those curious about the culture. Although the event is free, registration is recommended.
