Need an excuse to avoid SantaCon? Head to Gowanus for a Wafle tour!
The impending rush of SantaCon is knocking at the bar door, and we don't blame you if the wave of drunken red and white revelers gives you a case of the bah humbugs. It's a good excuse to lock yourself inside with a copy of Love, Actually, but we think you should get out and go to something tasty.

De Wafel Tour, Wafels & Dinges, 264 Butler Street, Brooklyn, Saturday, 10 a.m.

Waking up early on a Saturday morning is a tough task, but when it involves a breakfast pastry, we're down to make arrangements. This Saturday, guests can tour the Wafels & Dinges factory and see how the popular street cart is keeping up with demand. Included in the cost of a ticket is a Liege wafel with powdered sugar, one premium roasted coffee, and a souvenir goodie bag. Tickets are $15.

An Afternoon with Kyotofu, Bowery Culinary Center at Whole Foods, 95 East Houston Street, Saturday, 1 p.m.

If you're looking to bring a different kind of dessert to the table this year, head to Whole Foods to watch the founder of Japanese sweets specialist Kyotofu demonstrate a few tricks. Sample green tea matcha muffins and Valrhona-miso brownies and learn how to recreate the treats at home. Tickets are $15.

Lettuce Opening, Lettuce, 160 Havermeyer Street, Brooklyn, Saturday, 7 p.m.

Want to celebrate a chef's birthday while checking out a new pop-up restaurant? This Saturday night, sample a menu filled with fried tofu, broiled pork belly, and seared short ribs all served on varieties of lettuce -- including beloved kale. The chef is also celebrating a birthday, and the event is BYOB -- so you may want to stock up on some celebratory bubbly. Tickets are $35.

Queens Pie Bake-Off, SingleCut Beersmiths, 19-33 37th Street, Queens, Sunday, 1 p.m.

If you're able to put your baking skills to a good cause, the Queens County Market is hosting a pie bake-off to support typhoon relief efforts in The Philippines. For $12, attendees can sample two slices of pie from spots like Queens Kickshaw. The market, which brings together local Queens vendors, will feature a selection of gifts for the holidays as well.
