We know summer Mondays are tough to bear, but who says the weekend is the only time you get to have fun? Here are the five best food events taking place in NYC this week -- one involves the abstract art of pretzel twisting.

Sorel Anniversary Dinner, Marietta, 285 Grand Avenue, Brooklyn, Monday, 7 p.m.

Red Hook distillery Jack from Brooklyn is celebrating its second anniversary with an evening of sorel cocktails. The special drinks will be paired to a three-course dinner courtesy of southern-style restaurant Marietta; tickets are $50. Learn more about sorel in this video, The Spicy Spirit of Red Hook

Broadway Bites, Greeley Square Park, 33 Street at Broadway, Tuesday, 11 a.m.

Starting this Tuesday, midtown office workers and avid Macy's shoppers will have the chance to sample a diverse line-up of fast casual favorites during this seasonal pop-up market. A few new additions this year include Brooklyn Taco, Onigiri by Tampopo, and Gelato ti Amo; Roberta's and Red Hook Lobster Pound are among the returning roster.

Tuesday Tasting, Bierkraft, 191 Fifth Avenue, Brooklyn, Tuesday, 7 p.m.

Picking a beer is never easy, which is why this food and beer haven hosts free tastings every Tuesday. Each week, guests can sample different beer, cheese, and charcuterie presented by a local food industry representative or staff member. The current line-up includes beers like Carton Rickey and Other Half Citra IPA.

Learn To Twist Your Own Pretzel, Sigmund Pretzel Shop, 29 Avenue B, Wednesday, 8 p.m.

If your pretzel-making skills are limited to putting a frozen one in the oven, head to this $25 pretzel class, where you'll learn a little history about the pretzel, make dough, and receive a crash course in twisting technique. A complimentary SingleCut beer is included in the ticket price for each student.

Fox Bros. Bar-B-Q's Pop-Up Dinner at City Grit, City Grit, 38 Prince Street, Thursday, 7:30 p.m.

If you love brisket but hate crowds, avoid this weekend's upcoming Big Apple BBQ and head to Sarah Simmons' kitchen for a taste of 'cue in a relaxed setting. Atlanta's Fox Bros. Bar-B-Que pitmasters Jonathan and Justin Fox will turn out chicken fried ribs, Frito pie, and a brisket sandwich. Tickets are $65 for one person and $125 for two.
