The Nets are out of the running for the NBA title, the Mets and Yankees are having seasons that are middling at best, and the World Cup is still a week away, so best put all of your sports fan adrenaline into rooting for the Rangers, who are up for the Stanley Cup for the first time in two decades. This, at the very least, is an excuse to drink through a few matches. Here are the best places in the city to watch the games and do just that.

Rangerstown, Bryant Park, 42nd Street and Sixth Avenue
This Bryant Park corral for diehard fans opens tonight at 4 p.m. with tons of hockey-related entertainment -- giveaways! Face-painting! -- culminating in an outdoor screening of the game at 8. One major caveat: No booze on the lawn, which means you'll be looking at a dry game.

If you're looking for a vibe that's less sports bar and more drinking, head to this Lower East Side whiskey bar, which is running $5 happy hour drink specials on Rebel IPA drafts and whiskey shots. You can also reserve a table here, which might be nice if you want to be sure to get a spot. Email Rochelles@TheLineGroup.com to reserve your seat.

If, by contrast, it's rowdy hockey fans you're after, there's no better place in the city for you than the Flying Puck, a gathering spot near Madison Square Garden that's always packed on game days. Suck down beers and fix your eyes on one of the big screens -- and be prepared to be lost in a sea of blue and red.

Bronx Alehouse, 216 West 238th Street, Bronx, 718-601-0204
This Bronx beer bar is worth a trip regardless of what it's screening on its big screens -- it pours dozens of rare craft brews on tap. Rest assured its TVs will be tuned to the Rangers come 8 p.m. Stick around long enough tonight, and you'll be able to partake in the bar's late night happy hour: Get five cans for $20, or a shot and a can for $8.
