Get Your Tickets to Louro's Sun Noodle Dinner Before They're Gone
Before he presided over Louro (142 West 10th Street), David Santos made a name for himself with his Nossa Mesa Supper Club, a quirky, ever-changing prix fixe that allowed him to experiment with global cuisine and wacky dishes and expand his creative horizons. Nossa Mesa survives at Louro on Monday nights, and it's always a treat to pick up a table. But if you've dragged your heels on getting in for the event -- or, really, even if you go just about weekly -- you might want to consider making a reservation for August 4, when Santos is hosting a collaborative dinner with Sun Noodle.
Sun Noodle Sun Noodle hits Louro for one night only on August 4
Sun Noodle has achieved some measure of celebrity status thanks to the fact that it supplies many of the top ramen shops in the country, including Momofuku Noodle Bar and Ivan Ramen. The noodle-maker operates out of New Jersey, and for the Nossa Mesa dinner, it'll send its chef, Shigetoshi "Jack" Nakamura, to work with Santos.
The duo will prepare a feast that wanders through preparations from both chefs; look for Shima-Aji (striped jack) ramen nigiri sushi and summer chilled ramen with kanpachi from Nakamura, and cavala tartare with kiwi marmalade and surf and turf-style ramen from Santos. The six-course feast, which you can view in its entirety online, is $55, and it includes a couple of tastes of sake. Otherwise, the party is BYOB.
Louro is hosting seatings at 6, 7, 8, and 9 p.m., and you'll want to jump quickly if you plan to attend -- this dinner will likely sell out quickly. Call 212-206-0606 to secure a spot.
