Here are Three Restaurants That Opened In NYC This Week
Yonekichi's rice burger.
When one restaurant's doors close, another restaurant's doors open in fast-paced New York City, and every Friday we'll fill you in on what opened up around town this week. This week: a boob-tastic bar in Bushwick, a Cuban-Chinese retaurant in Midtown, and a rice burger hits the East Village.
Boobie Trap is decorated exactly the way you would think it would be, with a lot of lady parts. Located in Bushwick, Boobie Trap is owned by former Knitting Factory bartender Kristen North as well as chef Francisco Bacon and bartender Paul King. The establishment is a no-frills bar, so don't expect to get your fancy cocktail made here.
Calle Dão, 38 West 39th Street, 212-221-9002
Inspired by Havana's Chinatown, Calle Dão is a Cuban-Chinese restaurant from Marco Britti, owner of Favela Cubana. Expect items like duck empanadas, Peking-style roast chicken, and plátano maduro with black sesame ice cream.
Yonekichi, 238A East 9th Street, 646-669-9785
Yonekichi is doing away with the typical burger bun and replacing it with rice disks. Get your sandwich made with beef, chicken, eel, or a veggie patty; your bun gets a splash of soy sauce when it's served to you. Worried about the mess that a rice bun may entail? Yonekichi provides a bag that catches crumbs for enjoying later.
