Under the Sea Salad: Rush Limbaugh's Sad Childhood

Under the Sea Salad

Alan Scherstuhl, the theater critic from the Kansas City Pitch, also writes a series of blogs called "Studies in Crap," in which he examines weird old books (and other crap) from thrift stores.

Well, guess what he dug up today? An old community cookbook from Missouri called Recipes from Old Cape Girardeau, which features the recipes of one Mrs. Rush H. Limbaugh, Senior. Yes, that would be the mother of Rush Limbaugh, he of the pill-popping and the nonsensical tirades.

One look at Mrs. Rush H. Limbaugh Sr.'s recipes will help you muster up some compassion for her son. Because it turns out that little Rushie's mom fed him some truly hideous concoctions. Perhaps you would develop an appetite for pills, too, if your mom fed you Under the Sea Salad.

Under the Sea Salad does not feature any creature that ever lived under the sea. Nor is it a The Little Mermaid-themed bonbon. Instead, it is a two-tiered Jell-o salad, with a lime Jell-o, black olive and pineapple base, topped with more lime jello, cream cheese and Miracle Whip.

Liberals keeps attacking Rush for abusing drugs even though he had severe pain, but notice the liberal drive bys don't bring up the fact that our president, barack hussein obama has delved in drugs purely for recreation.
And...he can't stop his nicotine ADDICTION which is also a drug. A little unfairness going on here? Liberals cannot see the forest for the trees!!!

This has got to be the most pathetic hit-piece EVER. Jello salads were a big thing in the middle class America of the 50s and 60s. Who CARES?

Kevin Warner says:

Sarah DiGregorio reminds me of man-hater feminazis' who never bothered to learn to cook themselves since that would be denegrating to women "of power" everywhere. Perhaps Mz. DiGregorio has a fine recipe passed down from her grandmother, something along the lines of "Che Guevara murdered-innocents topped with burned bra." She of the morning-after pill popping and nonsensical man-hater tirades.

Are you posters being ironic, or do you really think theater critics and food bloggers are part of a DNC plot to bring down Limbaugh? You thik they can accomplish in a couple blog posts what basic fucking logic and decency have failed to do for 20 years now?!

MrUniteUs says:

When Rush was busted for sending his housekeeper out to buy drugs illegally. He said there out to get me.

When Rush was busted for coming back from the Domincan Republic, with Viagra prescribed to someone else he said there out to get me.

Donovan McNabb is quarterback and Obama,
is President just because they are Black.
According to Rush. Maybe there out to get him.

3 failed marriages, and no children.
Maybe the wives were out to get him.

Rush failed to stop McCain from being nominated. Maybe the Republican voters were out to get him. Rush failed to stop Obama fron being elected. Maybe voter were out to get him.

Limbaugh's contract is bleeding Clear Channel dry. Revenues are down and Clear Channel is laying off 1850 employees.
Those employess have a lot more to complain about than Limbaugh.

Rush listeners: please keep listening so that he can take the far right-wingers with no sense of reality and who can't think for themselves off a cliff and make room for a more moderate 3rd party that can actually get something done. He's only pumping you full of what you hear but all of his positions are politically untenable. Why do you think he won't run for office? Other than greed (he said himself he won't take the pay cut; a fine excuse) he'd get trounced when he isn't in his glass bubble with call screeners and a hang up button to silence dissent.

Dan L. Michigan says:

This is such a reach to discredit Mr. Limbaugh that it is funny. I was also subjected to jello experiments in my childhood by my Loving Mother. I am not embarassed by this fact, nor do I have any less Love for my Mother. I am proud of my roots and the political foundation that I received in middle class America, eating jello. This demonstraits that the drive by media, can't debate the issues head on, they need to discredit you in any way possible. Keep fighting for our constitution Mr. Limbaugh!!

Millard says:

Rush Limbaugh on the radio is the Third to carry that name. His father was Rush H. Limbaugh Jr. So, this was a book written by Rush's Grandfather -- who, by the way, just had a federal courthouse named after him.

But, no need to fact check or anything. It's just an excuse to get in some cheap digs. This is a great publication! I guess that's why it's given away for free.

I'm from Cape Girardeau and I know Rush and his family. They are a great family and I am proud of Rush for going after Hussein. He deserves it. It's funny that they called Bush every name possible and we were suppose to deal with it but now the baby democrats can't handle the same kind of treatment that Bush got.

Here's the thing. Rush is a public figure. He has made himself one by his own choice. He has attacked people and their families plenty in the past. This very mild post simply points out the digusting sounding recipe created by his Mom. To take it this much to heart goes to show how on their heels the right really are. Please calm yourself and as Rush himself always says--stop being offended.

the funniest thing about all this hasn't been the Under the Sea Salad, which is really funny on its own. It's been seeing how these people take such great offense at the lightest of all slights! And how they don't even try to defend the Viagra in the Dominacan charges from the orignal post!

During his coverage of inauguration day, Rush's commentary consisted mostly of breathing loudly into the Golden EIB microphone. This was eerily similar to Darth Vader's evil schtick. His final comment on the proceedings was, "An empty drum makes the most noise." He meant it for Obama, but it was clear that it was a better description of his own Bozo the Clown- W.C. Fields- P. T. Barnum self. Still, I must admit that as a left leaning moderate masochist, I have an irresistable compulsion to listen to him for 3 or 4 hours a day. He must be eating as many cigars as he smokes.

Liberals, the champions of drug addicts and the down-and-out. They pick and choose who they attack. They call Rush Limbaugh a pill popper even though he was not convicted of anything. We see where the real prejudice comes from, the left.

At first I was angry about rush's salary until I realized why: Rush is a Nazi and his only "beer hall" of operation is owned by jewish landlords. Come on ditto heads, see if you can get him on an antisemitic tirad now, then listen to the silence.

Rush defenders claim this light-hearted article constitutes an attack from the Left as if all liberals conspired to write this unimportant, but amusing, article. If this is truly an attack worth rebutting, then Rush defenders must feel pretty vulnerable. Not admitting to vulnerablity, Rush defenders then claim the entire liberal cause is weak and baseless just this article happens to be trivial. Silly Dittoheads.
