Talking Turkey: This Year, Pick Your Own
Six days into November and turkey tips are already clogging the collective consciousness. Here's one from Feather Down Farms: For the ultimate locavore experience, spend an afternoon upstate and pick out your own live bird.

The Stony Creek Farm location of Feather Down in Delaware County, N.Y., is offering guests the opportunity to visit the farm and select their very own turkey while it's still frolicking around the turkey pen. The farm will reserve it for you, then handle all the butchering and deliver your turkey to you two days before Thanksgiving. It couldn't be fresher if you went turkey hunting downtown. (Yes, Zelda now has her own Wikipedia page.)

What a great idea! I am assuming you don't have to worry that these birds endured unhealthy living conditions? (Blogged about this issue yesterday...)
