Fox has announced that it will develop the American version of a British television show called Masterchef. Gordon Ramsay, who recently gave up on the U.K.'s Kitchen Nightmares, will host the American Idol-type show, which will pit amateur chefs against each other.

Jon Shook and Vinny Dotolo of L.A.'s Animal are rumored to be planning a move to New York after being spotted talking with Drew Nieporent last week. Now, an Animal staffer says that, if they did relocate, it would likely be to open a "deli, with fresh meats and sandwiches."

Todd Macdonald is the new executive chef at Cru. Since Shea Gallante left the restaurant in June, Scott Riesenberger, the former sous chef, was at the helm. Macdonald, who has been made a partner, was working in the kitchen when Cru opened until about two years.
