Out with the Craftsteak, in with the Colicchio & Sons.

​As it turns out, the rumor about Craftsteak closing was no rumor. Tom Colicchio has announced he will shutter his steakhouse January 1, and open a new restaurant, Colicchio & Sons (85 Tenth Avenue), the same month. Reservations will be taken as of January 11.

A spokesperson says the new restaurant will "reflect the sense of all that is possible when new energy is applied to respected small-scale techniques of farming, ranching, and fishing." Other locavorish terms like "farm-to-table," "small-batch," and "micro-producers" were thrown around.

The front room, called the Tap Room, will feature a selection of artisanal beers, wines by the glass, and bites from a wood-burning oven. In the dining room, the menu will take its cue from Tom: Tuesday Dinner, the temporary restaurant in Craft's private dining space.
