Whole Foods Nixes Plastic Bags For Good

A co-worker tipped us that the Whole Foods Bowery location was not offering plastic bags anymore, as of today.

We called the store and were told that all Whole Foods stores nationwide will be cutting out plastic bags by April 22, but that the bags are not being manufactured anymore, and the New York warehouse has run out of them—hence, no more plastic bags in NYC.

This is definitely the direction all stores will trend towards, some more slowly than others.

In January, the city council passed a bill that would allow shoppers to bring plastic bags back to stores to be recycled. This will take effect in about 6 months.
