Big Gay Ice Cream is one of my favorite ice cream shops in the city (and recently launched a whole new line of excellent soft-serve in collaboration with Ronnybrook Farm). They Vine, too.
Check out a short, mesmerizing video of their production line after the jump. Big Gay is producing cups of bourbon-spiked vanilla for next weekend's massive food and music festival, Googa Mooga, but in this video it's cups of cardamom with cacao nibs.
Actress, producer and
ex-wife of Tom Green winemaker Drew Barrymore joined Eric Ripert for an episode of his Reserve Channel video series, On the Table, this week. The new mom helped the French chef prepare her "favorite dish," clams Montecito--a buttery, shellfish-laden entree named for the uber-weathly Southern California town where the actress has a home. Barrymore also explains that she named her daughter Olive because pregnancy books tend to "compare the size of the baby to a food item" as it grows.

Over on Kickstarter, filmmaker Michael Levine of Rivington Pictures is looking to raise $60,000 to fund a feature-length documentary that will tell the story of Streit's Matzo, a fifth-generation matzo factory founded in 1925 on the Lower East Side. The company is one of the few culinary landmarks of its era that remains, but it's also a successful food business. Watch the video below to see scenes with the founder's family, the owner, and various factory workers--one of whom calls making matzo there the "best job in the world."

Orr Shtuhl and Elizabeth Graeber self-published their first run of An Illustrated Guide to Cocktails and sold the recipe collection via Etsy, but the book caught the eye of Gotham Books and a new edition, packed with stories and illustrations we haven't seen before, is now available for pre-order--the book comes out on May 7. Watch the trailer below.

Need more Tyrion Lannister this morning? Game of Thrones star Peter Dinklage made a guest appearance on Saturday Night Live to chat about tax season on Weekend Update with Seth Meyers and Bobby Moynihan's "Drunk Uncle" character. "Drunklage," as he was affectionately dubbed by Moynihan, lamented over the fact that "kids today, they don't even wear garters anymore. They're just on their skateboards and Nintendos." He also disapproved of the teenage obsession with Tumblr, saying "you know what's in my tumbler? Regret." Maybe a little ice and fire, too.

Action Bronson loves food. And even though he's known for throwing out steaks during his shows, a recent Vine suggests the Queens-based rapper might be a vegetarian. Or, at least, dude loves fake meat. Check it after the jump.

At Fork in the Road, we love kolaches -- the delicious Eastern European pastries that landed in Texas via the state's Czech immigrants and eventually made their way out to Brooklyn. And we're not the only ones! A new Smithsonian video features Autumn Stanford, owner of Brooklyn Kolache Co., who recently served her excellent sausage- and cheese-stuffed versions at Choice Eats.

Beer expert Charlie "the Pope of Foam" Bamforth explains the art and science of brewing beer in just five minutes. Bamforth is a serious beer buff -- the UC Davis professor teaches "Malting and Brewing Science" and filmed the video at the school's pilot brewery.
