Taco Cid, a Mexican restaurant in South Carolina, has been outfitting its employees in T-shirts printed with the phrase "How to catch an illegal immigrant." The words are placed above the kind of crude box trap one might use to catch vermin, with tacos as the bait.

In Red Hook, Fishing in a Hurricane

At the edge of Erie Basin's dark grey water, in the mandatory evacuation area of low-lying Red Hook, two men in patched up rain gear fished away the afternoon, with plans to return to their homes nearby before Hurricane Sandy makes landfall and the rain and wind begin to pick up speed.

The Art of Cutting Food with Playing Cards

Ye Tongxin, a 48-year-old school-bus manager in Nanjing, has been training for 10 years to slice cucumbers with playing cards. His current best is to cut through 12 cucumbers in 42 seconds. If he can manage to cut through 18 in under 60 seconds, he will set a new Guinness World Record. Card throwing may not be new, but Mr. Tongxin's intense dedication to it is pretty extraordinary.
