David Byrne: Mayor Bloomberg Doubts the Village Voice

In a recent post on his blog, recent Voice cover subject David Byrne tells the story behind Mayor Bloomberg's visit to his Playing the Building installation last Friday. According to Byrne, Bloomberg's chief question: “How do people find out about the installation?” Someone ventured an answer, and it was then that the Mayor struck:
Someone mentioned the articles in the NY Times and The Village Voice, but the mayor remarked that their readership is shrinking and one or two articles alone can’t bring in sustained attendance.
As honored as we are that the Mayor cares deeply about the future of print journalism, could his thinking on our supposedly waning influence have anything to do with this?
