Amanda Petrusich, author of It Still Moves: Lost Songs, Lost Highways, and the Search for the Next American Music, reads tonight at Book Court, in a decidedly non-Lost Highways district of Brooklyn. Petrusich—a music writer at Pitchfork, the New York Times, Paste, and elsewhere—is pretty much the only person remotely tolerable when writing about such dubious prospects as Devendra Banhart and Joanna Newsom. Better still is her writing about people who've been alive for a while longer—like, say, Joe Bussard. Check out her September playlist here, where she big-ups non-anachronistic faves Fleet Foxes and No Age, and settle in tonight for an evening devoted to "the new, weird, hyphenated America."
